Our Story

Our story begins with three like-minded educators teaching together at a school where they dedicated themselves to providing their students with powerful learning experiences that promised their students the flexibility to pursue their passions while simultaneously challenging them to push their intellectual boundaries.   Always resourceful, creative, and innovative, Kathy, Grace, and Alice joyfully engaged in the exciting and ongoing process of re-imagining their instructional practices to ensure responsiveness to the unique needs of each student.  Thus was born their deep commitment to personalized learning and the recognition that passion serves as the best catalyst for learning.

75 years of collective teaching experience, observations, conversations, and insights ignited in Kathy, Grace, and Alice a vision of a learning community that would be scaled to size to ensure truly personalized learning.  They imagined a learning environment respectful of student voice; where students would be instrumental in designing their own learning pathways fueled by their interests and passions.  Such authentic real world inquiry would not be bound by the four walls of the physical classroom but would be liberated by the use of technology to connect students anywhere, anytime to a larger learning network in their community and across the globe.  This vision coalesced into the creation of Aspire Learning Community….
